Ecce Homo, Behold the Man!

Ecce Homo, Behold the Man!

Art restoration performed on “Roses” (Vincent Van Gogh, 1889), “Le Boulevard des Capucines” (Claude Monet, 1873), “View of the Salon Carre at the Louvre” (Alexandre Brun, 1880), and “Flowers” (Konstantin Gorbatov”, 1930).

Inspired by the botched restoration of Ecce Homo (Elias Garcia Martinez, 1930), and by Easter Egg (Ham Dorries, 2015).

This piece explores Microsoft Paint as a digital metaphor for the act of painting, the presence of the artist, and painting as a time-based art.
