Test Prep Tutoring

Get the highest possible score on standardized tests!

Standardized tests can be frightening, but they don’t have to be. Tutoring is not only the best way to prepare, but absolutely essential to standing out from the millions of others taking these same tests. Over the past several years I have helped dozens of students improve their standardized test scores, and I can do the same for you!

I offer test prep tutoring in the following areas:

  • General Test Preparation Strategies
  • ACT Preparation (English, Reading, and Science sections only)
  • PSAT/SAT Preparation (Writing & Language and Reading sections only)
  • GRE Preparation (Verbal section only)
  • LSAT and GMAT Preparation are not my specialty, but I am happy to work students in these subjects if requested

Background: The most important thing for standardized tests is familiarity with the test itself. These tests do not just assess how skilled you are at English, math, and so on, but how good you are at each particular test. In other words, your knowledge of the ACT, what kind of questions they ask, and specific tricks that can be used are equally as important as, for example, your skill at math. Someone taking the ACT for the very first time without having done any preparation is at a crippling disadvantage compared with someone who has prepared, practiced, and taken tutoring.

My Approach: First, we will discuss general test taking strategies, tips, and tricks to improve your overall performance. Second, we will discuss the nuances of each section of the test and what kinds of questions are asked. Third, we will practice repeatedly to improve your speed and skill and to become more familiar and comfortable with the test itself. As needed, we can improve specific skills or trouble areas, and review content like grammatical rules and vocabulary.
